Sanders is the longest serving independent member of Congress and has spent is 4 terms fighting for working families\, the shrinking middle class\, and closing the partisan divide. Read more about him on his website. \nNida Allam was elected to the Durham County Board of Commissioners in 2020\, making history as the 1st Muslim women to serve in public office in North Carolina. She continued to become the youngest County Commission Chair in 2023. Now\, Allam is running for congress.
