Durham Convention Center proudly supports our vibrant arts community by showcasing the work of local artists with our Artist-in-Residence exhibits. Artists are selected on a 6-month to 1-year exhibition in collaboration with the Durham Arts Council. Explore curated, rotating works of art on display throughout our venue.

In January 2022, an upcoming local artist called Neil Craver installed his art in the convention center corridors. Called ‘Cosmos and Consciousness,’ Craver’s new series came highly recommended by our partner, the Durham Arts Council. The artist describes as representing “Wahe Guru, bliss beyond words, manifestation at all levels, beyond the five senses,” while walking our corridors.

JP Trostle

JP Trostle presented “Quantum Flux” inside the center. Each shot explored texture and movement through unconventional digital photography.

Tom Willis

Tom Willis’ paintings evolve as he resolves the dynamics and relationships of the elements within the painting as well as the expressive statement. A certain immediacy is present in these works as he paints directly and the physicality becomes an important part of the expression.

Artist Deborah Wuliger

DEBORAH WULIGER

We showcased Harmonic Vibrations — a collection of geometric abstract paintings by Debra Wuliger a few years ago. Her work was infused with energy and stunning color. Wuliger took inspiration for the series from the energy of different life experiences and painted how those experiences’ vibrations travelled through her body to the canvas.
